When you click on the buttons below, candidates for each race will be listed with the public transit related information shared in their online platforms. Incumbents and current councillors will also have a section detailing their transit voting history over the past 4 years, so you can check if they actually mean what they say.

When analyzing platforms, here are a few things that we recommend you keep an eye out for, to make sure the person you are supporting actually supports public transit and those who rely on it.

  • Mentioning transit at all – Even though well over one hundred thousand Edmontonians rely on public transit every single day, many council candidates don’t mention our transit system at all. This is a MAJOR RED FLAG for any candidate.
  • Approaching transit from many angles – If we want public transit to succeed, City Councillors need to have a holistic approach to improvements. Look for a candidate that wants to make every part of our system better, from on-demand buses to LRT expansion.
  • Improving frequency and reliability – Specific calls to expand public transit service, and build public transit infrastructure require committing money, and often repurposing car lanes. Look for candidates that are willing to publicly support investing in our public transit system.

Mayoral Race: Sorted by references to public transit in the candidate’s platform. Due to clarity, we have chosen to only include the top five mayoral candidates in recent polls

Councillor Races: Sorted with incumbent first, followed by remaining candidates in alphabetical order with their last names
